The Firefighters Burn Institute is proud to announce the creation of a new burn recovery camp for our littlest burn survivors. This October we will be hosting the first ever burn camp for children as young as three years old. Burn survivors from three years to six years old will be eligible to attend the new Little Heroes Preschool Burn Camp.
Parents, burn unit staff, doctors, social workers and caregivers for the youngest burn survivors have often asked the question "there anything to help my child?"; There has long been a need for a burn recovery program for preschool children. We are optimistic that the new Little Heroes Burn Camp will be just what they are looking for.
One unique element of the new camp is that at least one parent or regular caregiver of the child will attend the three-day long camp along with the child. A separate educational program will be held on site for the adults. While the children's camp program will focus on healthy emotional and physical recovery, the adult program will assist parents and caregivers with the task of caring for and nurturing a child who has suffered a severe burn injury. No recovery program of this kind is being offered anywhere at this time.
Camp will be held in the Livermore Hills at Camp Arroyo October 12-14 th . Use of the camp facility is being graciously donated to us by the Taylor Family Foundation. FFBI is working together with specialists from Shriners Hospital for Children and other burn foundations to make this new program the best it can be.
The new Little Heroes Preschool Burn Camp is likely to serve as a model for other burn foundations. The Firefighters Burn Institute is once again at the leading edge of burn recovery and our local firefighters are the ones making it happen.

MISSION STATEMENT: Little Heroes Preschool Burn Camp is a model burn recovery program designed for pre-school burn survivors ages 3-6 years old and their caregiver(s). This unique three day program empowers children with their families to understand and cope with physical and emotional challenges associated with burn recovery.
