Hot things can burn our skin. It is important to know what is hot and what is not..

What are some examples of hot things?

    • Fire
    • Food
    • Bath water
    • Mugs
    • Pots and pans

It is important to always assume these items are hot. Ask an adult if the item is safe to touch and parents, make sure that you always test the bath water, pot handles are facing in, and items that are holding hot liquids need to be kept away from edges of surfaces. You should never hold hot liquids at the same time as holding a child.

In bathrooms, get rid of loose cords and keep hot appliances away from counter edges.

Set your water heater to 120 degrees maximum or just below the medium setting.

Check bathwater temperature, water should be warm not hot. Place your child facing away from the water faucet. Never leave your child unattended.
