It is important to remember to keep lighters and matches locked up and away from children. It is also important to remember to keep an eye on what they are watching online to ensure that they are watching constructive videos.

We have seen a few cases where our kids who go through our Youth Firesetter Program are there because they set a fire doing what they found on YouTube.

To download a free activity to help teach your child about matches and lighters, visit the National Fire Protection Association’s website at https://bit.ly/2Jbaeut.

If your child is experimenting with fire or is showing an interest in firesetting, do not wait until it is too late. Call our Youth Firesetter Program at (916) 531-7226 to schedule an assessment. More information on our program can be found at www.firesetter.org.
